It’s… uh, it’s been a hell of a year, huh?

Whether it’s about working conditions for developers or the rampant discrimination, there’s been a bit more transparency around some of the pitfalls in the industry. Never mind everything outside of the gaming community.
If nothing else, this has shown us, over and over, that there is a gargantuan amount of work to do. Work that isn’t possible without you.

Even for all the bad, there has been some really amazing things. I mean, @cypheroftyr is in a museum, how cool is that?! We gave folks of all sorts access to GDC and other conventions, and made some truly great connections throughout the year. And on the whole, there looks to be real progress towards unionizing game developers and actual conversation about the terrible culture of crunch.

Thank you to all our followers, to those that support us on patreon, past, present, and future. If you haven’t read our founder’s reflection on this last three years, you should definitely check it out.

There’s so much more to do. We want to pay more for articles, and solicit more articles. We want to be able to hire people for various projects. We want to sponsor more folks at more conventions. We want to elevate the community, really make it a safe and inclusive place for marginalized gamers and devs.

Bottom line is, we need funds to do all this. We wouldn’t be here without your engagement and support, and we are so grateful to the community that’s grown around #INeedDiverseGames.

If you can spare a dollar or two a month, please consider joining us on Patreon, but in the meantime our winter fundraiser is still going! Donate any amount you want, but there are rewards for donating at certain levels. Details in our previous post here and in the picture below.
